Modern college fraternities
College fraternities are an integral part of college life and any college student or any other person who has studied in a college in the United States will bear testimony to the truth of this statement. The fraternal affiliations held by all the students play a great role in determining the manner in which they conduct all of their day to day activities. Some of the college fraternities usually have some form of restricted membership. An example of a college fraternity that has gender based entry is the Alpha Chi Omega college fraternity. This is a women’s only fraternity and as such no male members can be able to join it. The fraternity is very widespread throughout colleges in the United States and at present it has an approximate number of 135 chapters. This said however, there are some college fraternities that have been on the forefront in the promotion of equal opportunity registration. One such fraternity is the Tau Kappa Epsilon which is among the fraternities founded before 1980 that did not discriminate according to race. Another such fraternity is the Delta Delta Delta, also popularly known as the TriDelta fraternity, which came up as an alternative to the 3 women fraternities that existed at the time.
